Spring has returned, and the Austin Scooter Club is having its first official group ride of the year. Louie will be leading us around West Lake Hills on his orange Vespa S. If you would like to ride with us, meet up at Austin Java on Barton Springs by 4 PM this Saturday. We will scooting around for a couple hours and plan on making a couple scenic stops along the way. Be sure to tank up, bring your camera, and wear your helmet. After the ride, we will enjoy some delicious food at Izzoz Tacos.

Set your alarm clocks early for Sunday morning if you are volunteering for the Statesman Capitol 10K scooter ambassador team. Meet us at IHOP on Cesar Chavez and I-35 by 7 a.m. We know it’s early, but our participation should only take a couple hours. Thanks in advance to all of you who signed up to volunteer!

For the second year in a row, Austin Scooter Club will be serving as scooter ambassadors for the Statesman Capitol 10K on Sunday, March 27, 2011.
As scooter ambassadors, we will be leading the race in front of the runners to pass out t-shirts to bystanders watching the race. A scooter volunteer team will be on site to assist the race organizers with anything they need on the course. As an event volunteer, you will receive a free t-shirt + free food and beer from the volunteer’s tent after the race ends.
The Capitol 10K benefits the Meals on Wheels charity and is a great way to show Austin residents just how cool scooters are.
Agenda
7:00 AM: Meet at the IHOP at IH-35 and Cesar Chavez to receive your volunteer t-shirt from Michael or Mary.
7:30 AM: Head to the S Congress Bridge where the race starts.
11:00 AM: Go to the volunteer area after the race to enjoy food, brew, and live music.
