Group Ride to Westlake this Sunday

Austin Scooter Club is hosting a group ride to Westlake this Sunday. The ride is suited for scooters of all engine sizes. We’ll meet at Thunderbird Coffee on Koenig at 3:30 PM. The group will leave at 4. We will scoot down to Lake Austin and through Westlake. The ride ends at P. Terry’s Burger Stand on South Lamar at 6:30 PM.

Group Ride to Coupland and J. Lorraine Ghost Town this Sunday

If you are looking for a way to escape the “South by” madness, then join the Austin Scooter Club on a ride to Coupland and the J. Lorraine Ghost Town this Sunday. We are meeting at Genuine Joe Coffeehouse at 11 AM. The ride will leave at 11:45. Linda will lead the group east of Austin and stop for a break in Coupland before heading to the ghost town. The group will have a late lunch during the visit. The ride is best suited for scooters that can maintain 50 mph. Please arrive with a full tank of gas and wear your helmet. Don’t forget your camera. The wildflowers are in bloom, and photo opportunities are abound.

Statesman Capitol 10K Ride on Sunday, March 25

For the third year in a row, Austin Scooter Club will be serving as scooter ambassadors for the Statesman Capitol 10K on Sunday, March 25, 2012.

As scooter ambassadors, we will be leading the race in front of the runners to pass out t-shirts to bystanders watching the race. A scooter volunteer team will be on site to assist the race organizers with anything they need on the course. As an event volunteer, you will receive a free t-shirt + free food and beverages from the volunteer’s tent after the race ends.

The Capitol 10K benefits the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and is a great way to show Austin residents just how cool scooters are.

Agenda

7:00 AM: Meet at the IHOP at IH-35 and Cesar Chavez to receive your volunteer t-shirt from Michael or Mary.
7:30 AM: Head to the S Congress Bridge where the race starts.
11:00 AM: Go to the volunteer area after the race to enjoy food, brew, and live music.

Group Ride to Georgetown on Sunday

The Austin Scooter Club is passing on football to take a leisurely group ride to Georgetown this Sunday afternoon. We are meeting at El Chilito Café at 11am. The ride will depart at 11:45. We will take an indirect 52-mile route up to Georgetown on lightly traveled rural roads.

The roads are a little rough on the way to Georgetown, so we’ll keep an easy pace. The ride will take about two hours. The group will make a quick pit stop in Hutto near the halfway mark. Once we reach Georgetown, we’ll park at the courthouse and walk around the historic downtown. After sightseeing, we will head over to The Monument Café for southern cooking and homemade desserts. We’ll take the direct route back to Austin.

This ride is best suited for scooters that can maintain 50 mph. Please arrive with a full tank of gas and a helmet. We look forward to seeing you!

Scootour of Lights IV – Group Ride this Sunday

Season’s greetings, everyone!

Share the holiday decoration appreciation spirit and join the Austin Scooter Club on December 18th for the Scootour of Lights group ride. We will cruise around Austin in search of the city’s best holiday light displays. The ride is suited for scooters of all engine sizes and will be lead by Linda. Please arrive with a full gas tank and a helmet. Prizes will be given to the best decorated scooters.

Meet us at the Star of India Restaurant on West Anderson Lane by 5pm for a delicious meal with fellow scooter riders. We will leave from the restaurant at 7pm, and the ride will last about two hours. We hope to see you this weekend!
