Starting this Wednesday, members of the Austin Scooter Club will meet up at the Pour House (6701 Burnet Rd in the 78757) for some beer, food, and camaraderie. We’ll be arriving around 6-6:30pm and hanging out for a couple hours.
If you scoot in the North/Central part of town or just feel like going for a ride, then we would love it if you joined us. Everyone is welcome. We plan on making this a weekly event, so if you can’t make it this week, then pencil us in for a future Wednesday.

Even though it’s Fourth of July weekend, it is time for the Austin Scooter Club to beat the heat together. There is no better way to do this except go swimming in a pool that is 68 degrees year round. That’s right—Barton Springs Pool.

The itinerary is as follows:
10:30 AM: Meet at Jo’s Coffee on South Congress
11 AM: Go for a short in town ride.
12 noon: Stop at P. Terry’s Hamburgers on N. Lamar to get a bite to eat
1 PM: Head to Barton Springs Pool for some fun in the sun.
This is an in-town ride. 50cc scooters can attend. Everyone bring your helmet, sunblock, and your bathing suit. I’ll see everyone there!
If you plan on attending, then please post on the thread for this event in the Meetups section of the Forum.
Also, the club page on Meetup.com will disappear completely in three days. ¡Adios!

It is time to experience a little bit of Tuscany in central Texas! “How are we going to do that?” you ask. Well the answer is simple –ride our scooters to a winery (or two). There will be wine, food, camaraderie, and most importantly, some serious scooter riding.
When: Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 12: 30 PM.
Where: Meet at Lux Bakery on William Cannon and Brodie Lane (by the Firestone and Hollywood Video).
1 PM: Ride out through some back roads and downtown Buda to arrive at Driftwood Vineyards.
2:15 PM: Taste some wines and enjoy the stunning views at the vineyard.
3:30 PM: Head up the street to Mandolo’s Estate Winery. Enjoy more wine and have a late lunch at their Tuscan restaurant.
5:30 PM: Take the direct route back to Austin.
This ride is for 125cc+ scooters only. Please wear closed toes shoes, helmets, and I recommend sunscreen. Check your tires, oil and arrive with a full tank of gas. The ride should be around forty miles before arriving at the first winery. Please vote on the official attendance thread in the forum. We need to get a head count for the restaurant.

In case you have been living in a pet carrier, the first annual A Fistful of Scooters rally is this weekend! Early registration has closed online due to the limited availability of shirts and patches. However, you can still register at Vespa Austin this Friday beginning at 4pm if you would like to attend. We can’t guarantee that you will get your preference of shirt size, but you will get a patch and a rally pack. I hope to see you there!
Also, the club will continue to use the Meetup page for one more month while a “meetup” section is integrated into our official site.
Thanks to all who attended our ride to Lockhart. Black’s BBQ was delicious and Eric planned out an excellent route.
