3CR5 is only a week away!

As many of  you know, a bunch of us are headed to the Third Coast Rally 5 (Scooter Libre) next weekend in San Antonio. If you are planning on heading down, here’s an update of what’s going on.

If you plan on riding down to San Antonio, your scooter needs to be in tip-top shape. Take it down to Go Go Go Scooter Shop for a $25 oil change and checkup. Don’t forget to mention the post on the ASC forum here to get in on the deal.

Vespa Austin is hosting a pre-rally mixer for us Austinites on Thursday October 1st from 5-7 pm at their shop on S Lamar.

Everyone knows that riding in a group is more fun than riding by yourself, so don’t make the trek to San Antonio alone. We are have three, yes THREE, groups riding down.

  • Early Morning: Meet at Vespa Austin at 8:30am, ride leaves promptly at 9:00. Lead by Thovas and Eric.
  • Afternoon: Meet at Urban Moto Shop at 2. Roll out by 2:30. Lead by Ian.
  • Evening: Meet at Vespa Austin. Ride leaves promptly at 5:30. Lead by Mary.

Please post in the Forum if you plan come on one of the group rides. See everyone there!

Announcing 3CR5 *Scooter Libre* in San Antonio, October 2-4

Did you forget to buy tickets to ACL Fest or need a good excuse to get out of town that weekend? Join us on the Austin Scooter Club’s second annual quest to San Antonio for the Third Coast Rally #5 (3CR5) – Scooter Libre!

For many club members, 3CR4 was our first scooter rally. This rally is organized very well, and at least 120 people attended last year. You’ll meet fellow enthusiasts and get reacquainted with some of the Fistful of Scooters attendees.

Out-of-towners are encouraged to stay at two main hotels: The Red Roof Inn or The Days Inn Riverwalk. A discussion has been made in the Meetup section of the Forum for club members who want to share rooms and ride down to San Antonio.

Register online at 3cr5.com for $30 to make sure you get the T-shirt size you want.

Rally Wrap-Up

camoruckus Rally Wrap Up

A Fistful of Scooters was a huge success. We had over 100 people and their scoots show up for the BBQ at Vespa Austin. We had so much fun riding down Congress on Friday evening blocking traffic with every pedestrian trying to snap photos of the group as we passed.

Saturday saw a group of 70 people ride out to Salt Lick for some of the best BBQ in Central Texas. Even News 8 Austin came out to film the rally during breakfast. The short ride made a nice cruise through West Lake Hills, and then we went shopping at Cheapo’s and Room Service Vintage. The group reconvened at El Chilito for a delicious taco dinner.

Sunday was devoted to Gymkhana, with Austin’s Johnny and his green P200 winning the trophy for “Gymkhana Bad Ass.” The Honda Ruckus with camouflage tires won for “Best Modern.”

Thank you to our sponsors Vespa Austin and Urban Moto for donating time and money to make the first Riff Raff SC rally a success.  I look forward to a bigger and more kick ass rally next year.

Rally Day 1

The first day of “A Fistful of Scooters” has been quite a success. We had initially planned for 75 attendees, but by 4 PM, the rally had sold out! Ninety-three people registered total. I am looking forward to a delicious breakfast at Urban Moto Shop provided by Taco Shack, and then helping with the short ride.

If anyone has pictures please post them in the forum section.
